Epicentre is approximately 10 km north of Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture and 300 km northwest of Tokyo. Latest reports indicate that at least 240 people were killed, some 1,288 others were injured, around 59,800 buildings were damaged or destroyed in the region and a tsunami of up to 5.1 metres was recorded.
